I have signed with University of Helsinki to start as a salaried doctoral candidate (tohtorikoulutettava) in NLP starting in March 2018. I will be working in Professor Jörg Tiedemann’s new ERC funded project “Found in Translation – Natural language understanding with cross-lingual grounding (FoTran)”.
My work will focus on studying how multilingual neural network models can help in natural language inference. The goal is to build language-independent abstract meaning representations by training neural networks with massively parallel multilingual datasets. I will be applying these abstract meaning representations to natural language inference tasks.
As this means that I will be working full time at University of Helsinki, I am taking study leave from my current job at Gartner. Huge thanks to Gartner for allowing me to continue my studies and to fully focus on research!
I have been planning this move for a long, long time, but thanks to Jörg and the University of Helsinki this finally became a possibility from financial point of view.
So from March 2018 I will be based in Metsätalo in Kaisaniemi.
Contact me if you’re around and feel like meeting up for a coffee or lunch.
